There are many cases in this world that occur as a result of ambitions still raging in a person’s heart or life. And it will be even worse if the ambition is still alive in a leader.

Various decisions made by a leader whose life is still colored by human ambition, will often create a bad impact for the people he leads, even slowly but surely will also have an impact on the life of the leader himself.

There are certain decisions that can still be ‘recalled’, but there are also many decisions that cannot be changed or withdrawn. One example is Abraham’s decision to take Hagar as a wife which eventually gave birth to Ishmael.

That is why it is very important for us to review all major or important decisions that we will make in our lives and make sure they are completely free from the influence of the fire of ambition. After all, a decision tinged with ambition will surely have its victims! Make sure every decision we make is always in line with God’s work agenda, purpose and time.

The following characteristics indicate that our decisions are aligned with God’s agenda, purposes and timing:

  1. The decision makes divine peace more and more envelops our lives.
  2. God has put everything we need ‘in our hands’, to carry out those decisions (resources) both materially and human resources, so that there are no struggles that prevent us from doing God’s will.

The persistence of ‘humane toil’ indicates that God’s time has not yet come, or perhaps there are still inaccuracies in the decision regarding God’s agenda and purposes or ways of working.

Even though there is a mistake when the leader makes a decision because he is still polluted by human ambition, but God will act when the leader runs back to God and asks for His grace to fix a situation that seems ‘already complicated’!

He’s still in a business to set things right in this life of contradictions.

He is indeed a faithful God and also a Father who abounds with love. In His faithfulness, God still comes to help those who want to turn from their evil ways and open their hearts to receive correction from the Holy Spirit. God will still come when they cry out and beg for mercy from God to fix what has gone wrong. Just like the story of Peter who was helped by Jesus when he began to sink (Matthew 14:27-32).

He is still the God who straightens out what was originally crooked, brings order in the midst of a chaotic world and defends the righteous who were initially oppressed. He sets things right in the middle of contradiction.

Psalms 126:1-6 (NKJV) When the Lord brought back the captivity of Zion, we were like those who dream. Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing. Then they said among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for them.” The Lord has done great things for us, and we are glad. Bring back our captivity, O Lord, as the streams in the South. Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy. He who continually goes forth weeping, bearing seed for sowing, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.
