Rekindling the Heart: Overcoming Spiritual Dryness
Exodus 3:1-4 (NKJV) Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian. And he led the flock to the back of the desert, and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush. So he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed. Then Moses said, “I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn.” So when the Lord saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.”
Various pressures and business in the activities of daily life often sway people’s hearts from focusing on seeking divine things as God wills. There are so many efforts and works of the enemy through the arrival of various bad events, negative situations and conditions that continue to lead believers to begin to doubt the promises and faithfulness of God who is always with them. They begin to experience the loss of hope, worry and fear that their prayers are not answered by God. The sense of “need for God” seems to be hoarded in such a way, which makes believers begin to feel discouraged, disappointed, ‘dry’ and even results in spiritual ‘death’.
But He is a God who remains faithful and still continues to work. Through the work of His Word and Spirit, He continues to rekindle the ‘heart that thirsts and hungers for God’, bringing the awareness to the existence of God’s call and the divine purpose of life. Then at the same time, the power of His Spirit will dismantle all things that are human, worldly and mortal, to purify the hearts and lives of His people. Thus, what appears is only the desire and passion to pursue divine things, supernatural heavenly things. There is a great longing and need for the reality of God and His Word that have rekindled in the lives of God’s people.
The season of divine encounter is coming upon us. Every time we pray and worship, the reality of God will very strongly appear and dominate the consciousness of His people. The awareness of God’s reality will so strongly envelop and grip the minds of His people, that the lives of His people will be very easily touched by the work of His Word and Spirit.
Then we will experience drastic and dramatic life changes. We are a real testimony who flow the divine life which will bring liberty or freedom for many people out there who are ‘shackled and imprisoned’ in their lives.
