Oftentimes we think that life is ‘unfair’, because there may be many negative facts we have to deal with in our daily lives. And often we feel we can’t have complete happiness, so we start, slowly but surely, to regret this life.
Stay aware of these thoughts and feelings, for if we let them, it will cause our spirituality to have serious spiritual leaks and dryness. Consequently, the enemy has more room to infiltrate more negative thoughts that make our decisions deviate from God’s will.
Do not underestimate the enemy’s work that makes us get spiritual dryness. Don’t overlook this condition in our busy life. Because this is a treacherous thing! Take action immediately:
1. BE AWARE THAT IT IS AN ‘ENEMY’ ATTACK.
This is a spiritual war that we must not face outwardly. Because many believers continue to look for various ‘worldly comfort’ as solace. Consequently, the ‘momentary pleasure’ they get becomes a mere ‘fake cure’ which makes them worse because they see unchanging negative facts. Deal with it in the right way:
a. Use our mouths for prayer in the spirit, speaking the Word, giving thanks, to praise and worship Him.
Basically, in these conditions, the mouth should not be silent, for it is the weapon to subdue the work of the enemy.
Proverbs 18:20-21 (NASB1995) With the fruit of a man’s mouth his stomach will be satisfied; He will be satisfied with the product of his lips. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.
Psalms 8:2 (NASB1995) From the mouth of infants and nursing babes You have established strength Because of Your adversaries, To make the enemy and the revengeful cease.”
b. Make time to fellowship with Him.
Do not let us busy all the time, never make busyness as an escape. Take more time to sit at God’s feet and listen to what is in His heart. It is in these moments that we become strong and refreshed. Remember, in the reality of God’s presence only will we be strengthened again.
Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV) But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.
c. Seek and find a ‘healthy social circle’, the people who can build us up with the work of the Spirit and the Word.
It’s not just a gathering that shares sighing and numerous facts of life. No, it’s not that, but a community where we can experience the reality of God and the transforming Word. For example the ‘prayer group’ that trains and revives our inner to be healthy, strong, and mighty. Thus, we can conquer the battles in our daily lives with the strength of God!
2. BE FULLY REALIZED THAT WE CAN OBTAIN THE SOURCE OF HAPPINESS, PEACE, AND JOY ONLY FROM THE HOLY SPIRIT, NOT FROM EXTERNAL FACTORS.
I came to understand that it turns out to be foolish if we think that people, property, money, and other outward things can make us happy. It is an assumption and a awfully fragile foundation of life. Unknowingly, we are replacing God as the true controller and ruler of life with external or outward things!
Matthew 7:24-27 (NIV) “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”
I feel, in the days ahead there will be many people who will experience a great shock! Those who put their hope in perishable things will be swept away by the waves of evil days and hard times. But those who continue to be built based on what the Spirit says (live only from the Word) will get stronger and sturdy. It is indeed through them that the wave of revival will move bigger, touching and restoring the lives of many people. God will use their lives to be healing, restoration, and resurrection for those who call on God (Ezekiel 37:1-14).
3. BE THE PERSON THAT UNITES WITH GOD.
Continue to be associated with the work of the Spirit and the Word. Don’t think it’s odd if we spend more time reading the Word and praying, because that is normal. Make certain we can bring prayer and contemplation of the Word into the crevices of our daily life activities. That is what is called a person who is crazy about God and loves God with all heart, with all soul, and with all strength. Thus, our lives will be very open to be used by the Spirit to do His will in our everyday lives. This is what is called living by faith!
Galatians 2:20 (NIV) I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
1 John 5:4 (NASB1995) For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.”
