I feel more and more how important it is to always wait on God. No matter what conditions we experience, in the morning we must have time to linger in God’s presence. Maybe we really have to struggle to hold back sleepiness, but keep holding on to interact with God’s reality.
Matthew 26:40-41 (NKJV) Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “What! Could you not watch with Me one hour? Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
I came to understand, ‘one hour’ means ‘one hour of clean time’. That’s an hour of being on guard and staying focused, not an hour (gross) where the mind is still flying and the body is still not ready. It was one quality hour with God.
So, like it or not, we need to redefine the notion of ‘at least one hour of prayer’. We need to take more time than that to get quality minutes. We usually only use one hour to ‘war to conquer the mind and body’. Thus, take a little more time to fellowship with God.
Don’t stop and move on from prayer before we receive His Word. Get used to praying for the Word we receive. Bring it in prayer and write it down and then explore the written verses using the Word we receive. Thus, we will grow in the accurate knowledge of God. My heart is getting excited waiting on the morning prayer hour that I have set. I know for sure that I will meet Him and His Word!
Isaiah 50:4 (TLB) The Lord God has given me his words of wisdom so that I may know what I should say to all these weary ones. Morning by morning he wakens me and opens my understanding to his will.
Jeremiah 15:16 (NKJV) Your words were found, and I ate them, and Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart; For I am called by Your name, O Lord God of hosts.
Encountering with the Word will always make our spirits excited and burning. Our souls are perfectly preserved by divine peace and joy. This condition will make our daily lives manifest the thoughts and feelings of Christ in all aspects.
