Deciding to fill life with various works of the Spirit and the Word will make our lives directed and fixed toward the fulfillment of God’s plan. That’s how we give all space to the Holy Spirit to take over our whole life. He will direct, lead, and bring us on a journey of faith that overcomes the world!
Acts 1:8 (NIV) “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
The sentence “comes on you” (Acts 1:8), written in Greek “Eperchomai” which means: Influences, takes over, or operates in life.
1. The first things to be influenced are the inclination of our heart and lifestyle.
In short, He will make us love to read the Bible and pray more than anything else. The lifestyles that are considered ‘familiar among believers’, but verily impactful! This time Holy Spirit will make us love to read the Word and pray because it is based on a heart that loves God. This is what will make our lives straight, more divine, and pleasing to God’s heart!
II Samuel 22:25-27 (NKJV) Therefore the Lord has recompensed me according to my righteousness, According to my cleanness in His eyes. “With the merciful You will show Yourself merciful; With a blameless man You will show Yourself blameless; With the pure You will show Yourself pure; And with the devious You will show Yourself shrewd.
2. The Holy Spirit will draw us deeper into living fellowship with Him.
Consciously and willingly, we easily leave all life that is fleshly and human in order to enter a deeper dimension of glory with God. This is what makes us know more about His heart and become more united with Him.
John 14:23 (NKJV) Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.”
3. The Holy Spirit will make us experience the ‘death of the flesh and self’ in our everyday lives.
With the purpose that we can collaborate easily with other members of the body of Christ to complete God’s will. Any potential that can ‘quench the movement’, such as the spirit of gossip and jealousy – fussing about who is the greatest among us can be overcome immediately because we bring ‘death to all forms of the ego’ (Philippians 2).
4. Holy Spirit will continually condition us to think about things of the Spirit so that our day-to-day lives in completing God’s will can be filled with divine peace and joy.
This is crucial for the peace and joy that reign and rule upon us will make our spirit, soul, and body perfectly preserved until the finish line and victorious in all things!
Romans 8:5 (NKJV) For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.
Philippians 4:8 (TLB) And now, brothers, as I close this letter, let me say this one more thing: Fix your thoughts on what is true and good and right. Think about things that are pure and lovely, and dwell on the fine, good things in others. Think about all you can praise God for and be glad about.
Romans 16:20 (NKJV) And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
