Beware the spirit of familiarity that makes our inners ‘cold, dismayed, and lukewarm’ when interacting with divine things. Be alert! When we hear the same things over and over again, read the same verses of Scripture, and do the same things, we may start to feel dull and think it’s normal. It’s precarious!
Take immediate action:
1. Fasting will help us to refocus on divine things.
Fasting also brings us back to thirst and hunger for God’s reality. So that prayer and intimacy with God’s existence can again make our inners blazed.
Mark 2:20 (NKJV) But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast in those days.”
Fasting can make us have a new spiritual capacity to receive new revelations of the Word from the throne room!
Mark 2:21-22 (NKJV) “No one sews a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; or else the new piece pulls away from the old, and the tear is made worse. And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine bursts the wineskins, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But new wine must be put into new wineskins.”
2. Fix the attitude of our hearts by designing certain times to just immerse ourselves in God’s Word and reality.
It will help improve our heart attitude and at the same time reignite our inner man.
Jeremiah 15:16 (NASB1995) Your words were found and I ate them, And Your words became for me a joy and the delight of my heart; For I have been called by Your name, O Lord God of hosts.
3. Use our mouths to invite spiritual dimensions that love God and hunger and thirst for Truth!
Don’t be passive, use our mouths to speak!
Proverbs 18:20-21 (NASB1995) With the fruit of a man’s mouth his stomach will be satisfied; He will be satisfied with the product of his lips. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.
4. Keep in mind, that familiarity spirit is dangerous.
Guard our hearts with all vigilance. Make certain our minds stay burning! This is the barometer, if our inners are lukewarm, it means we are in danger!!
Romans 12:11 (NIV) Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.
1 Thessalonians 5:19 (NASB1995) Do not quench the Spirit;”
Obviously, we must not allow anything and anyone with the potential to quench our spirits, immediately fight it (take active action) and win the battle!!
