This message is a continuation of yesterday’s message.
We are discussing about the impact of the work of the Word and Spirit in the life of every believer that is built to be born as a revivalist.
- TO BUILT OUR IDENTITY IN CHRIST
2. TO BRING US TO LIVE EMPTYING ONESELF LIKE CHRIST TO BE FILLED WITH ALL THE FULLNESS OF GODNESS.
I find the life that this world is teaching is a type of a selfish life, full of competition even tends to be ruthless, willing to sacrifice others for our personal success. But as a revivalist, God teaches us to keep on building a life differently.
Philippians 2:5-8 (NIV) In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature[a] God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature[b] of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!
The work of the Word and Spirit will build our life to be an individual that :
a. Doesn’t have attachment or dependence on external things.
The Holy Spirit emphasizes that everything in our life, that we have, actually belongs to God or a gift from Father Himself that He lends for us to use to complete His will or plans. So everything that we have, are just “borrowed goods” that aims to make our work more effective, not for us to claim or show off as “ours”.
b. Experience the fullness of Christ.
It is the will of the Father for us to keep on uniting life with the type of life that Christ had Himself! How or what kind of life did Christ actually have? He stated it plainly in the book of John 5:19. John 5:19 (translation from TSIE 2.5)
To answer those who were angry with Him, Jesus said, “What I say is true: I— as the Son of My Father, cannot do anything of My own accord, but I do what My Father is doing. What I see My Father does, that I also do.
As a person, Jesus also had His own will, but He decided to ‘put’ His personal will on the altar and was determined to ‘take’ what His Father wanted Him to make as the desire of His heart! Jesus did not pursue vain praises, He still considered others to be more important or more significant than Himself. He made sure His life was always a blessing to others and represented the Father’s being accurately (Philippians 2:3-4).
The Holy Spirit will keep on working to build our daily life to be like what Jesus had! He will continue to in still the principles of truth that influence and condition us so that with full awareness, willingly and joyfully we take the act of self-emptying from all desires, plans and ambitions that we have to be filled with the desires, plans and agendas of the Father’s that is stated through the Holy Spirit.
c. Live in absolute obedience to His guidance or direction.
There will be some direction or guidance of the Spirit that makes us ‘calculate’. Because it seems, the guidance of the Spirit conditions us to have to ‘surrender all that we have achieved’; and start again from the beginning.
Even though we haven’t reached the point of giving up our lives to obey the guidance of the Spirit, it takes determination for us to always able to obey the directions of the Spirit!
When we give ourselves to be completely rebuilt by His word and Spirit, we will also be taken to enjoy the reality of Christ’s fullness and manifest the authority or power of the kingdom in our daily lives (Ephesians 1:17-23, Philippians 2:8-11 ).
